German envoy seeks strengthened dialogue, cooperation with OIC

The German Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Michael Kindsgrab has called for further strengthening of links between his country and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The envoy discussed ways to step up dialogue and cooperation during a meeting on Monday with OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha at the organization’s headquarters in Jeddah.

Kindsgrab was accompanied by Dr. Eltje Aderhold, consul general and special envoy of Germany to the OIC. Their talks also covered the Palestinian issue and situation in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the OIC said: “Both sides discussed ways and means to strengthen dialogue and cooperation between the OIC and Germany, developments in Gaza, and the Palestinian issue.

“In this regard, the secretary-general reiterated the position of the OIC and its call on the international community to urgently take effective measures to stop all forms of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and to seek the implementation of the two-state solution.”

The Palestinian death toll from Israel’s military assault on Gaza had risen to 27,585 since Oct. 7, health officials in the Strip reported on Tuesday.

Israel has pounded Gaza since a cross-border attack by Palestinian group Hamas in October. Around 85 percent of Gazans have been displaced and all are food insecure, according to the UN.
