ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday condemned an Iran-backed militia that has made continual efforts to target Saudi Arabia by launching ballistic missiles and explosive-laden drones, saying such attacks caused fear and terror which was "reprehensible."
The Arab coalition in the kingdom announced on Thursday it had intercepted five ballistic missiles and four drones that were launched by Houthis from Yemen.
The coalition claimed the attacks were initiated to target civilian sites, including a university in Jazan that lies in the kingdom's southwest and shares a border with Yemen.
In a statement issued on Friday, Pakistan's foreign office said it was "commendable that Saudi forces [had] intercepted and destroyed all projectiles successfully."
"Pakistan reaffirms its full support and solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against any threat to its security and territorial integrity," the statement added.
Houthis previously targeted a major oil facility in the kingdom, prompting the Saudi authorities to proclaim that such attacks constituted aggression against the global economy.
