Israel says 93 UN aid trucks entered Gaza on Tuesday
  • Announcement came amid international outcry over the dire humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territory

JERUSALEM: Israel said 93 UN aid trucks entered war-ravaged Gaza on Tuesday, a day after the UN announced it had been cleared to send supplies for the first time since Israel imposed a total blockade on March 2.
COGAT, the Israeli defense ministry body that oversees civil affairs in the Palestinian territories, said “93 UN trucks carrying humanitarian aid, including flour for bakeries, food for babies, medical equipment and pharmaceutical drugs were transferred today (Tuesday) via the Kerem Shalom Crossing into the Gaza Strip.”
The announcement came amid international outcry over the dire humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territory, and as European countries ramped up pressure on Israel to abandon an intensified campaign and let more aid in.
A spokesman said on Tuesday that the UN had received permission to send “around 100” trucks of aid into Gaza after nine were authorized the day before.
UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher said that the trucks allowed in on Monday were “a drop in the ocean of what is urgently needed.”
The spokesman for UN chief Antonio Guterres said that “a few dozens” were allowed in on Tuesday, but spoke of difficulties receiving deliveries.
“Today, one of our teams waited several hours for the Israeli green light to... collect the nutrition supplies. Unfortunately, they were not able to bring those supplies into our warehouse,” Stephane Dujarric said.
“So just to make it clear, while more supplies have come into the Gaza Strip, we have not been able to secure the arrival of those supplies into our warehouses and delivery points.”
The Israeli army stepped up its offensive at the weekend, vowing to defeat Gaza rulers Hamas, whose October 7, 2023 attack on Israel triggered the war.

UK surgeon in Gaza says ‘never seen so many blast injuries’

Rescuers place a casualty to transport them on a stretcher, in Khan Younis, Gaza, May 23, 2025, in this screengrab.
  • “I’ve never seen so many blast injuries in my life and I’ve never seen so many injuries in Gaza in my life,” said Victoria Rose
  • Rose said she had seen a lot of severe burns, typical injuries for people who have been in an explosion

KHAN YUNIS: A British surgeon visiting a Gaza hospital said Monday she had “never seen so many blast injuries” as Israel ramps up operations in the coastal Palestinian territory ravaged by 20 months of war.
“I’ve never seen so many blast injuries in my life and I’ve never seen so many injuries in Gaza in my life,” said Victoria Rose, a part of a British medical delegation to Nasser Hospital in south Gaza’s Khan Yunis.
Rose, who has previously visited Gaza to work, said she had seen a lot of severe burns, typical injuries for people who have been in an explosion.
“We’re seeing these injuries in really small children as well,” Rose said from Nasser Hospital’s paediatric wing.
With Israel conducting dozens of air strikes every day in Gaza since restarting bombardments on March 18, humanitarians have said that nowhere is safe in Gaza.
The surgeon added that the large burns she had witnessed during her visit “are very difficult to survive from even in the Western countries where there is no war, and we have functioning hospitals and all the medical supplies at our fingertips.”
“So, here, most of these burns are going to be unsurvivable.”
Rose said the other type of injuries from blasts occurred when “whatever is around you gets whipped up in the explosion and ejected at very high force, and that then hits the civilians and it causes penetrating injuries.”
Often, the victims suffer partial or complete amputations in the bombings, Rose said, and because they are living in tents they turn up with large amounts of dirt in their wounds.
“Our first course of action is to try and clean the wounds, and then to try and cover them and salvage as much of the body part as we can.”
These challenges are compounded by the dwindling number of functional medical facilities in Gaza, Rose said, including Nasser Hospital.
“On the second floor, one of the wards has been blown up, and also on the fourth floor the burns unit was blown up.”
The UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said last week that “94 percent of the hospitals in Gaza are now damaged or destroyed, and half of them are no longer operational.”
Rescuers said Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip killed at least 52 people on Monday, 33 of them in a school turned shelter.

“Saudi Warehousing and Logistics Summit returns as an essential meeting ground for leaders shaping the future of supply chain, warehousing and logistics in the Kingdom,” said Muhammed Kazi, senior vice president — construction, dmg events. “By bringing together a broad spectrum of voices, the summit plays a key role in guiding industry strategies aligned with Saudi Arabia’s growth ambitions for the warehousing and logistics industry.”

This year’s summit agenda is built around seven key pillars: transformation, resilience, collaboration, generative AI, customer centricity and ESG. Speakers will explore practical approaches to streamlining operations, expanding warehousing capacity, building risk-resilient supply chains and adopting AI to meet rising customer and market expectations. With logistics playing an increasingly strategic role in economic diversification and trade facilitation, the summit will also highlight the need for stronger cross-industry collaboration and investment in talent.

“Saudi Warehousing and Logistics Summit creates space for strategic and data-driven engagement across sectors. I look forward to sharing the stage with fellow industry leaders to address real challenges, share success stories and insights and develop a shared understanding of what’s needed to move forward,” said Ali Hakami, chief supply chain and procurement officer at Hana Water, and a key speaker at the summit.

The speaker lineup features senior leaders and decision-makers from across the ecosystem, including Mutasim Al-Olayan, strategic planning director, Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services; Alaa Banbelh, director of new logistics program, Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services; Hala H. One of the sessions, “Ensuring Future Readiness: Building an Efficient and Resilient Supply Chain,” prioritizes discussions on striking the right balance between performance and cost in a resilient and efficient supply chain.

The Saudi Warehousing and Logistics Summit highlights the Kingdom’s focus on logistics as a key enabler of economic growth and trade connectivity, contributing directly to Vision 2030 outcomes.

In line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, the collaboration seeks to enable socioeconomic growth in the Kingdom and create more earning opportunities for Saudi nationals.

The MoU was recently signed during the period in which the Saudi-US Investment Forum was held and the signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh Al-Jasser and Acting President of the Transport General Authority Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih. Autonomous vehicles are pivotal to the future of transportation. Uber is building toward an electric, shared, and autonomous future, already working with 18 leading AV partners globally.
