ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani Foreign Office on Tuesday condemned the launch of ballistic missiles by Houthis towards Riyadh that it said were aimed at civilians and civilian infrastructure.
Pakistan reaffirmed its “full support and solidarity” with the kingdom against any threats to its security and territorial integrity.
“The successful interception of the ballistic missile by the Royal Saudi Air Defence prevented loss of innocent lives and is commendable,” the foreign office said. “Such attacks not only violate international law but also threaten peace and security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the region. Pakistan calls for the immediate cessation of these attacks.”
On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the Houthis said it has fired several ballistic missiles and 25 armed drones on Saudi Arabia, including at Aramco facilities in Jeddah and the defence ministry in Riyadh. The spokesman said Riyadh airport was also targeted. Aramco has not yet commented.
The Saudi-led coalition said late on Monday one ballistic missile fired from Yemen towards the kingdom had been intercepted over Riyadh. Residents reported loud blasts across the Saudi capital.
