TOKYO: The approval rating for the Cabinet of Japanese Prime Minister ISHIBA Shigeru rose two points in a survey conducted by the Mainichi newspaper at the end of May.
The Ishiba Cabinet’s approval rating rose to 24 percent in the latest poll from 22 percent in the mid-May survey when the approval rating reached its lowest point since it was formed. This is the fourth consecutive month that the approval rating has fallen below 30 percent.
The disapproval rating was 61 percent, down one point from the previous survey, showing that the Ishiba Cabinet continues to struggle as a minority government.
The government remains under pressure to deal with Japan-US negotiations over high tariffs imposed by the administration of President Donald Trump and high prices for goods and food in Japan.
