Wellness is more than fitness or diet. Here are six habits from Dubai-based instructor Emilia Metaireau to promote balance and wellbeing.

  • Flip your perspective

    Inversions like handstands or simple yoga poses may help improve circulation and core strength, Metaireau said.

  • Move without your phone

    Metaireau believes that exercising without a device can enhance focus and awareness. Whether walking, swimming or stretching, moving without distractions encourages attention.

  • Try something new

    Learning unfamiliar activities such as dancing, baking or crafting can stimulate the brain and provide a sense of engagement and motivation, she said.

  • Prioritize stillness

    Metaireau also said that incorporating quiet practices like meditation, breathwork or time in nature can support nervous system regulation and mental clarity.

  • Start a gratitude journal

    Writing down a few things each day that you are thankful for can support positive mental habits and emotional resilience, she said.

  • Make time for connection

    Spending time with family, friends, animals or your community can positively impact your overall wellbeing. Shared experiences can reduce feelings of isolation.
