๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ผ Botswana: Many hope new president will bring change | Al Jazeera English

Botswana has inaugurated Mogweetsi Masisi as its new president.

The former vice president takes over from Ian Khama, who stepped down after his term limit was reached. Elections will be held next year.

Many say that they do not believe the new president is going to move far from Khama’s socialist policies, which focused on poverty eradication, particularly in rural areas.

People expect President Masisi will keep in line with that, but they also hope he will have his own ideas and vision.

Al Jazeera’s Catherine Soi reports from Gaborone.
