The number of passengers who drowned when a packed ferry capsized in Tanzania has risen to 136.
Recovery efforts are underway as 250 other passengers remain missing after Thursday’s disaster on Lake Victoria.
Officials expect the death toll to rise.
The passenger ferry sank just a few meters from the dock in the Ukerewe District. Officials couldn’t pinpoint the exact number of passengers onboard. The person dispensing the tickets drowned and the machine recording the data has not yet been retrieved.
