ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s foreign minister on Thursday thanked Egypt for its support during November’s session of the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Niamey, Niger.
The Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) session in Niamey in late November unanimously adopted a resolution reaffirming the group’s support for Kashmir and rejecting India’s last year’s move to scrap the region’s semi-autonomy. It also rejected a set of new laws enacted by India that give domicile rights in Kashmir to non-Kashmiris and pave the way to alter the demographic character of the country’s only Muslim-majority region.
“Conveyed Pakistan’s appreciation for Egypt’s cooperation at OIC CFM,” Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said in a tweet after a phone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Hassan Shoukry.
Great speaking with FM Sameh Hassan Shoukry on further strengthening & diversifying our bilateral relations with enhanced collaboration at multilateral organizations. Conveyed Pakistan’s appreciation for Egypt’s cooperation at OIC CFM.

“Foreign Minister Qureshi briefed his counterpart on developments in IIOJK (Indian-administered Kashmir), and underlined the need for the international community to take steps to address the grave situation,” the Pakistani foreign office said in a statement after the call.
“In this regard, he thanked Egypt for cooperation during the 47th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Niamey, in November 2020.”
The ministers also discussed ways to “strengthen and diversify” bilateral relations and “enhance collaboration in multilateral organizations,” the foreign office said.
