NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) — A Nashville musician was fatally shot after a robbery outside his home Thursday afternoon. Five juveniles were charged in the case.

Officials with Metro Nashville police told Nashville CBS affiliate WTVF that a housemate found 24-year-old Kyle Yorlets around 3 p.m. Investigators said they believed he was robbed of his wallet and then shot after refusing to hand over the keys to his vehicle.

Yorlets was pronounced dead at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The 24-year-old was from Pennsylvania and went to college at Belmont University. He was a member of a local band, Carverton. The band’s manager said in a statement, “He was loved by his friends and family.”

The band posted the following statement on its Facebook page:

“On February 7, 2019 we lost our brother, best friend, and bandmate Kyle Yorlets. We are in a state of shock and are having to grasp the reality that is now in front of us. We are heartbroken. Our condolences for his family and loved ones and all the lives that he touched. We will never forget Kyle, and though he is gone too soon his legacy is here to stay.”

The band released a new single in January and was planning to release a new album at the end of March. It was unclear if or when that album would be released.

A GoFundMe was set up to assist his family.

A memorial service for Kyle was scheduled for Monday, Feburary 11th at 3:30 p.m. in the Belmont University Chapel.
